BAL SURAKSHA ABHIYAN

Bal Suraksha Abhiyan is one of the pilot projects undertaken by our Sisters in November 2006. It has been registered as Bal Suraksha Abhiyan Trust (Movement for the security and the Protection of the Children).

To work towards a child labour free society.

To promote Human Rights and dignified life for children.

Our Intervention so far

Extensive Awareness Programme - Two Sisters continue to give awareness about the issue through workshops and talks in different schools, parishes and among SHG (Self Help Groups).

 

Our Network with Govt. for Child Labour

The meeting was held in SDO Office to begin the National Child Labour Project in Kalimpong. Many NGOs and Govt. Department Officers participated in the meeting. In which the thorough survey on the Child Labour was to be conducted in Kalimpong and its surrounding villages.

 

Children's Parliament

The conference on the Children Parliament was conducted at Ashadeep by Mr. Joseph from Chennai and Fr. Bobby from Bangalore. The workshop continued for three days with 75 participants. It was very beneficial for the participants to bring change in the society.

Our Present Activities

The continuous survey and efforts for rehabilitation of the children freed and to bring them to mainstream education.

Total number of children going to regular school as on 5th March 2009 is 93.  (Girls: 38  -  Boys: 55)
